My opinion on Undertale has mostly 180d: I thought it was overrated when it came out because it was discussed to fucking death, but now I see it was so imaginative and deftly designed that it's achieved a kind of longevity that games don't really get anymore *because* it's chock full of legendary moments in an industry where your biggest games struggle to get one notable setpiece sometimes. Do you remember anything about the last two Halo campaigns except how boring they were? Do you remember anything at all from Days Gone or Callisto Protocol? No, but you remember Toriel walking you through every trap, Mettaton's quiz show, Undyne asking is anime is real, cooking spaghetti with Papyrus, Sans telling you to go to hell. Lying on the ground, zoning out and doing nothing while droning music plays is just one of a million notable setpieces in this game, that's how classic it is.

Do you still listen to that overmarketed Paul McCartney song from the first Destiny, or Ed Sheeran's song from the new Pokemon? Of course you don't! But you do still listen to Hopes & Dreams, and Waterfall, and CORE, and Dummy. Megalovania is probably the biggest original videogame song since Still Alive from Portal, it outstreams actual pop hits and made its way to Smash Ultimate. Even the goddamn Pope heard it! I like a lot of games more than Undertale, but there's no game from the last decade I respect more. And clearly Nintendo agrees, because they hired someone who used to make Earthbound ROM hacks to help with an official release of their best-selling IP. That's how you know Toby Fox broke all the boundaries with his one game.

Anyway I'm uploading this because I beat Pokemon ScarVi and the Area Zero theme is incredible and it was clearly a Travis Barker I mean Toby Fox production
