Family friendly, informative and entertaining, Retro Reviews with The No Swear Gamer contains lots of retro goodness. Today's episode continues the ABCs of Retro Gaming series in which I review one game for each letter of the Alphabet. Today's letter is “V” as in Vanguard for the Atari 2600 system. From the SNK and Centuri 1981 arcade game, Vanguard came to the 2600 either in 1982 or 1983. It was very groundbreaking in the way that it introduced a continue option, 4 way shooting and changing perspectives from between being both a vertical and horizontal scrolling shooter. The manual even has a cool illustration that is very similar to the NES game Life Force. Listen carefully and you might even hear a 2600 version of a Queen song from the movie Flash Gordon. And don’t forget the haiku at the end!
