Trigger me baby! Another Rainbow V run, playing as my favorite character, Alastor. Most of the strategies are more or less the same from my Joe playthrough, with some alterations to compensate for Alastor's Devil Trigger restriction. I will be collecting all V-Films for every stage except Stage 4 since I'll be using the missile skip. Occasionally, the framerate will chug a bit and I'm assuming it's because the emulator can't handle the bright flashing lights when Alastor transforms.

Some notes about Alastor:
- Alastor plays like a "reverse Joe," where he's out of his suit 90% of the time. Because of that, pretty much everything on this difficulty will one-hit kill him when outside of his suit. When in his suit, the VFX meter will be constantly draining.
- You need to transform into your suit/devil trigger mode in order to use any of your abilities, like your VFX powers, sliding, redhot kick, voomerrang/shocking pink, etc. This also includes your defensive abilities like SLOW dodge, ukemi, & viewtiful forever. You can double jump without your suit tho.
- **UPDATE: I was incorrect about the PS2 version using Select to activate devil trigger. It uses R2.** Depending of what you play on, you either press the Z button on the Gamecube, or the Select button on PS2 to enter devil trigger mode. IMO the Gamecube controller is easier to use since the Z button is a shoulder button, compare to the PS2 controller where the Select button requires you to take your thumbs off the d-pad/left analog stick or the face buttons to press it. Since I'm used to the PS2 controls and I'm emulating the game with Dolphin, I mapped the Z button to PS4 controller touchpad. The crappy Share button on the PS4 controller is too far to the left for me to use my right thumb. I mainly use my right thumb to press Select so I keep my left thumb on the d-pad for up and down dodging.
- If you're wondering how I instantly go into SLOW after entering devil trigger, I keep the SLOW button held down before activating devil trigger.
- You can only transform once the first bar of your VFX meter is full. There will be a lot of times throughout this playthrough where you see me standing in place, doing nothing and that's mainly because I'm waiting for my meter to fill back up or conserving meter for a difficult part of a fight.
- Alastor uses his sword at the end of his punch combo. I mostly avoid using the sword since it knocks enemies away and isn't point efficient.
- The wings on Alastor's suit allows him to float in the air. Holding down makes him float towards the ground.
- Alastor's VFX meter will always drains at the same rate, regardless of which VFX ability you use. This is different from the other characters where their MACH SPEED drains super fast or stacking VFX abilities increases the drain rate. Once you get the VFX turbo charger, your meter will recharge faster than it will drain so it's a good habit to turn it off your devil trigger as often as you can to conserve meter.
- When a cutscene occurs before an encounter, the game will automatically activate devil trigger and you’ll start with full meter when the encounter begins, regardless if you were going to run out of meter prior to the cutscene.
- Apparently, there are some people who claims Alastor does double the damage with his devil trigger. I can confirm this isn't true. There's apparently another sword combo Alastor can use but I can't confirm or deny that since I never done it or know how to do it.
- Overall, Alastor is definitely the most difficult character to play in VJ and requires (at least for me) a lot of practice to play properly.
