Ahhh, John Carpenter. I get a big dumb smile across my face when I even mention him. His catalog is full of heavy hitters, underappreciated gems, and even a few misfires. The 90 pretty much encapsulates this formula for Carpenter with In the Mouth of Madness now being rightly seen as a classic, Vampires and Memoirs Of An Invisible Man being misfires and today’s selection, Village of the Damned, being an underappreciated gem buried under the guise that it was a miss.
