Virtua Racing on Analogue Mega SG (Sega Genesis) - Scaling & Dither Blending
Virtua Racing was an evolutionary step when it was released; at least the Sega Genesis port. The arcade was revolutionary as it was an early polygonal-based racing game. I remember going to the arcade and needing a full $1 to play. Now the game is due for release in the US on the Switch in the not-so-distant future.
I have three ports of this game: the Genesis, 32x and the PS2 versions. Most are not good. The Analogue Mega SG makes this game at least look a whole lot better. The primary problem is that on the Sega Genesis, there is little to no transparency effects as this is handled by dithering. On this game in particular, it looks dreadful. Dither blending makes it look MUCH better.
