On Dust2, Vitality fakes Long A by sending the best Long A Spawn player out by smoking Long corner and throwing flashes. The Long A player can either try to delay the enemy by going dumpster and using their utility to do so or go aggressive and entry. Either way will slow down rotations to allow the rest of the team to rush up Short A behind the cover of an Xbox Smoke. However, if the enemy team is not fighting for Long A, then a lot of information is gain. This possible means that they are doing a CAT setup. If the enemy team is doing a CAT Setup, then an extra flash will be thrown in order to clear the angle.

Another team that is notorious for this strategy is Natus Vincere (NAVI).

To switch it up, I've seen some Pro teams go Mid to B after Faking Long A by doing the same, sending 1 player out Long A then instead of rushing Short, they rush Mid through Double Doors to B.
