I was planning on doing a vlog post on Rogue One, considering that I did one previously on my hopes and thoughts on Star Wars with the release of The Force Awakens, last year. So, get ready for some spoilers, I guess... like the next four sequels aren't already on Amazon... sheesh.

Unfortunately, we lost, yet another childhood influence this year along with Kenny Baker. Carrie Fisher died days after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to LA.

As the iconic Princess Leia Organa from the Star Wars franchise, Fisher created a role that was empowering to women and girls because she was able to talk back to the men and put them in their place and she was revered for it. She was a general after all in the last Star Wars movie. Off screen, Fisher battled a different empire, the patriarchy... and addiction from years in the spotlight and pressures of a famous upbringing. But she battled all her demons and became a best selling author and icon. She was 60 years old.
