High volume vs high intensity
Both have a big history in weightlifting and body building, but which is superior for building muscle and strength?
High volume was popularised by body builders such as Arnold Schwarzenegger in the early 70s. This training method prioritises the amount of sets rather than the intensity they were performed with.
Whereas, Arthur Jones roughly around the same time, popularised High intensity low volume training. Which was essentially where only one working set was completed, but it was performed to failure.
Body builders such as Mike Mentzer and Dorian Yates picked up this training style and found success which proved more is better is not necessarily true. Which do you think is more effective?
