There's video after a bit! Tutorial on how to make a mod for games based on Valve's Source Engine! Including Steam's own VPK creator/extractor/viewer tool (vpk.exe, free download), plus another utility as well!

This works with many games including CSGO, Dota 2, L4D2, TF2, Garry's Mod, Titanfall and lots of others! I've used it myself to make my own custom mods for the Left 4 Dead games.
