Wait Wut? Gates of Zendocon for the Atari Lynx
We continue our adventure through the weird, wacky, and wild games for the Atari Lynx. Today we look at Gates of Zendocon, a unique albeit very strange side-scroller shooter.
Released in 1989, Gates of Zendocon was another one of the Atari Lynx launch titles. It was made by Epyx studio and it is a 2D side space shooter. You fly through different gates in order to hunt down and seek out Zendocon - a giant intergalactic space crab who is infesting the galaxy with its minions.
This game had several unique qualities - such as being able to skip levels, gather multiple weapons and defensive upgrades, and the fact that you ship actually shows damage when hit. It had a great sound track, crazy backgrounds, and a lot of weird and zany enemies. A fantastic addition to the Lynx's library.
