Warcraft III: Reforged is a remastered edition of the 2002 real-time strategy video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion The Frozen Throne. Warcraft III: Reforged retains the gameplay of the original, but its development has spurred on further balance changes to the game's multiplayer. Players from the original client are able to access and play with Reforged players by being given access to the new client. There is a Classic Graphics setting available that uses the textures of the original release.This is similar to Starcraft: Remastered. Users can unlock profile icons based on per-race ratings. The campaign's missions were initially to be altered to reflect World of Warcraft, but this was scrapped. There are certain features missing from Reforged, including some that will be released later (such as the competitive ladder of Warcraft 3). Some, however, have not been included, including the "Clans" social system, and has not been mentioned by Blizzard
The internal scripting language of Warcraft III, JASS, is joined by Lua, commonly used in scripting and custom content for other games, and for Blizzard's World of Warcraft. Lua is intended to make custom content creation easier and to expand it.[3] Blizzard intends to make the editor more powerful.[2] Other changes such as increased custom camera views and individual unit traits are introduced.[7]
The Acceptable User Policy claims all intellectual property rights to custom games created on Reforged to Blizzard Entertainment, which has been met with criticism
Warcraft III: Reforged received "mixed or average" reviews according to Metacritic.[14] Fan response has been overwhelmingly negative;[15] upon release, the game was review-bombed by users on Metacritic, reaching a low score of 0.5/10 a few days after release, making it the lowest-ranked game on the site by user score. Forbes's Erik Kain acknowledged many players were unhappy due to the game suffering from a large number of technical issues, its poor graphical presentation, and for lacking several promised features at launch.
