Greetings fellow gamers! This is Gamer Guy (In a Suit) from the Echo Army YouTube channel! Today I am bringing you a
review of the entry in the Warhammer series of PC games, Warhammer 40,000 Deathwatch: Enhanced Edition!
(NOTE: This game was reviewed using a key provided by the Developer)
The Too Long, Didnt Watch Review:
A very weak entry in the typically outstanding Warhammer franchise. A mobile port, and it shows. 2 out of 5. Pick up at
80% off during a Steam sale ONLY if you like Turn-Based strategy type or are a BIG Warhammer fan. Otherwise, pass. You
wont miss a thing.
The Meat Potatoes Review:
Ugh. Where do we begin. Okay, perhaps I am being harsh but I dont think I am alone here. There are certain expectations
one has in a franchise. Warhammer 40,000 PC games are usually pretty damn good, especially if you are a fan of the
franchise. This game, however, is a MAJOR disappointment. Let me explain why because it really boils down to two words
for most: Enhanced Edition. This is nothing more than a mobile port. Period. The graphics, while they do seem to be
sucking up some memory and making my fans run full blast, are shockingly lackluster. They would be great for a tablet,
but simply not what you would expect from a PC game claiming to have amazing graphics. The gameplay is nothing new. It
is standard Turn-Based action. Pick your squad from your pool of Space Marines, execute the mission. Again, uninspired
and really just feels like a lot of endless clicking. This is mostly due to an overall lack of immersion in the game
whatsoever. I frankly felt bored playing. The only fun in this one I had was with the leveling and Card system. After
each Victory, you can level up your Space Marines (nothing new to see here) and you get card drops that appear to mostly
be weapons you can equip and use. Sometimes you get Packs of Cards, giving you three cards which appear to be more than
just weapons as I managed to obtain an item (Frag grenades), an ability to use in combat and an extra Marine for my pool
of Marines. If I am feeling like playing something Warhmmer, I will fire up anything in the Dawn of War or Space Marines
catalogs instead or if I want some Turn-Based strategizing and action, Ill lean towards Breach Clear or Door Kickers.
Unfortunately, this blend of 2 normally good things falls well short of being a solid PC title, let alone one worthy of
being an Enhanced Edition. Its merely a 2 out of 5. Not even close to being a $25 game. Its a $4.99 game
tops....steer clear unless youre a diehard Warhammer fan or the price comes WAY down.
Happy Gaming!!!
