#Warriors fans chat about off-season (Myers, Poole, Kuminga Klay, Draymond) during Lakers-Nuggets G1
#StephenCurry #StephCurry (this is not an illegal stream and we will not post highlights, as we do not want to be taken down! But if you need help with a stream, ask someone in the comments)
TOPICS & TIMESTAMPS:
4:00 on Ayton: nothing matters until we know who our GM is, nothing matters unless you've gone through game film and we don't get paid enough to do it, so why not trust your GM, if it's Bob or Dunleavy or Kirk Lacob?
7:00 blocking people who say "trade XYZ", "fire Kerr"
10:00 reminder for newbies that our channel is not for outraged people, but I'm willing to talk to mad people if
13:22 tipoff without a scoreboard but we did get the ESPN on-screen graphic
22:00 we can't really make any predictions until the domino of Bob Myers drops
32:00 Poole's contract definitely for the needy requests of "need a big man, wing, and Beli and Otto Porter" -- put trust in your GM staff
34:15 can we just give Klay a break? No need to punish him by saying he needs to come off the bench, the Austin Reaves extension
41:00 on Kuminga and the psychology and mobius of who's fault it was this season -- you could even say it was JK's fault for losing Kerr's trust vs SAC
49:00 Kerr on Klay today: first half wasn't that good, come ready for training camp, and I think we saw the ideal Klay in the second half of the G6 loss to the Lakers
52:30 James Edwards, Pistons beatwriter on rookies (like Wemby): "LeBron is still the biggest prospect in 30 years and it took him until Year 3." Let's just come to grips that Kerr doesn't play rookies and 2nd year players all that much. Maybe his development timeline is actually the right one? How can anyone predict?
1:00:00 we do need more "fence benders" as Draymond on his podcast, and that could've been JK vs the Lakers, and maybe that's a learning point for Kerr, and this happened across the whole season: if your vets are turning the ball over anyways, then why not go ahead and play the youngsters? But we did play the youngsters, although it was Wiseman-based on JK wasn't playing.
1:04:45 I don't think I'm ready to give up on Poole, talking it through. By 2026, end of Steph's contract, Poole will have 3.5 more years of experience and guys just get better, look at Aaron Gordon.
1:13:00 another mobius mentioned by Cholo: "Warriors system is not plug and play", actually evolved through Bogut, then Draymond which allowed us to mix the halfcourt, with tiki-taka that's was the next evolution of it (which again Klay was running correctly in Game 6 second half)
1:17:45 if Bob doesn't come back, then you might see more changes because there's less trust from guys that haven't been here as long and they might push the panic button quicker -- so basically I'm back to the premise that I think we can play better and just by hitting the reset button on the season will give a better flow. Simple example: no need to go to Japan and waste 1.5 weeks of training camp. That in and of itself is progress.
1:34:00 Sergey: "bummed out because no one helped Steph" -- I would say that we just didn't have the pieces to cover AD and LeBron, the No. 1 of which was hunger (Lakers had a chip on their shoulder of not making the playoffs). Draymond's awful turnovers in Game 5 vs SAC derailed our march towards figuring out SAC. Instead we had to rely on an epic 50 points from Steph in G7. G5 was the highest level of tiki-taka I've ever seen, a joy to watch, but it got derailed and so our hunger for perfection just was not there, never happened as Draymond said in his podcast against the Lakers. Hindsight is 20/20 but that's why I would've gone with Kuminga.
1:40:45 on Kuminga's maturity: fyi GP2 was BFF'ing JK in LA
1:52:15 whatever Austin Reaves gets from the Lakers is a good comparable (albeit will be outdated soon) for Klay. If Austin Reaves gets a team-friendly contract, GSW should try to extend Klay right away -- btw 2:07:30 AR's close-outs are really good
2:24:00 looking at power forward and center salaries, I'm not sure we want to spend $32M on Ayton. Should be interesting to watch K.Love play for Miami and see how well he plays because then he'll set the market as a FA pf this summer. John Collins isn't tall enough to match AD.
2:41:45 Clint Capela at $20M also doesn't make sense, too much for a guy we're gonna just insert vs Lakers to defend AD
2:42:45 Draymond on a livecast with Stephen A. Smith about his leadership (or inability to do so), to answer Tiago Barbosa's question of if JP played bad because of relationship with Dray, who said by February there were bad habits
2:51:30 Naz Reid vet min FA? Had h2h vs AD on 3/3/2023, something to look into
