Thanks to a new route, I managed to take this level sub 55.

In case you're curious, here's a video of the old route where I opened first two gates by fighting the officers instead of infinite jumping over them. This old run beat the level in 1:01.

0:00 - I need to infinite jump over 7 different gates in this level. The gates aren't too high and they're often bunched together, making horizontal infinite jumping more important than pure height gain, therefore I went with Xingcai and Yukimura Sanada.

0:20 - After the initial infinite jump where I also get myself extra height with Xingcai's air attack, I use Benkei to storm the north-east garrison. Benkei's air special gives a quick burst of height before the fast downsmash, so it's a surprisingly good attack to use in jumps.

0:25 - This is the most sloppy part of the run: I accidentally do Xingcai's sprint attack followed by one unnecessary attack while fighting Kiyomori Taira the first time. Might be a half a second time loss.

0:31 - From this point on, I dialogue skip all the longer lines because otherwise some time will be lost at the very end.

Also, with this route I noticed that it's possible to leave Sun Wukong alive. He never has the time to say a single thing during the level, so his dialogue doesn't end up slowing down this route.

0:43 - This is a major RNG spot in the run. Sometimes the order of the dialogue changes and you might get wrong dialogue here too. If one of the enemy officers starts talking, the run is over, because the extra dialogue delays Kiyomori Taira respawning by at least 5 seconds. Best case scenario is getting Cai Wenji's line here.

0:53 - If you get the angle on this Benkei air special correct, the rest of the level is pretty free. Just go and hit Kiyomori Taira as soon as he appears. I think I could've started the final attack slightly earlier, saving milliseconds.

Using Benkei to enter last garrison is slower since he won't get a speed boost in that area.
