Team: Wang Yuanji, Ranmaru Mori, Wang Yi

This run looks a bit sloppy, but it's still my fastest attempt due to a small, random event bug at the end. It's another strange level driven by scripts and NPC behavior with some RNG thrown in as well.

---

0:03 - the first objective is to defeat the nearby three officers. Wang Yuanji is chosen to be the main character for her very fast long range attacks.

The combat is a bit sloppy. This isn't a very mechanical level, since it's mostly driven by message boxes and NPC movement, but I think I do overall lose a little bit of time for this.

0:59 - I wait out dialogue as much as possible to be able to defeat one reinforcement officer (who is also mandatory) without having to stray too far away from the starting area.

1:21 - the reason I have Ranmaru Mori is to be able to talk to Wang Yi (or her generic NPC equivalent Yang Fu) early. Otherwise you'd have to wait for your NPC buddies to catch up before the dialogue can begin.

Optimally the dialogue with Yang Fu begins as soon as you reach him instead of being delayed by other message boxes. I get good message boxes here, but also didn't reach Yang Fu as soon as possible due to the sloppy combat earlier, so maybe the time save evens out.

1:31 - after Yang Fu dialogue begins, some new reinforcements appear. Defeating them is also mandatory or else the next level events do not begin (in a timely manner at least). Alternatively, I believe your allies can get distracted fighting some of the officers if you don't take care of them now.

2:00 - once Liu Zhang appears, a ton of new officers spawn. Keiji Maeda I think is the first one that is mandatory. Again, if you don't take care of him, I believe your allies get distracted and stay inside the garrison fighting instead of coming to the exit point.

I wait out dialogue to be able to start the conversation with Liu Zhang as early as possible after reaching him. This is because the trigger that makes these three NPCs head to the exit point only activates after the last of the "rescue" dialogue messages resolves.

2:40 - after rescuing Liu Zhang and friends, Kiyomori Taira is set to emerge from the north-east corner. Defeating him and waiting out his dialogue will then make the rest of your NPC allies also want to head to the exit point.

3:14 - now, after this point you no longer have to do anything else but wait near the exit point. But in this run I went and checked out Yang Fu since I had the impression this gets him moving sooner. (Probably a wrong assumption, overall?)

Wang Yi / Yang Fu tend to stay behind the pack, moving to the exit only after other characters already have a head start. So far I don't really have a solution to make them move faster, other than try to wait out dialogue.

3:42 - as you can see, my small detour to the south made the last of the north-west NPCs stray off the path and move slower than usual. Something like this should be a bad thing in most circumstances, however...

4:09 - sometimes the level end 10-20 seconds earlier than normal, before all your allies have reached the exit point. I don't know how to make this happen consistently, though.

I've only seen the level end early when Wang Yi is in the party. There might be something slightly different about the scripting of the generic NPC Yang Fu? Alternatively, I could simply be wrong about this. But at the moment, it seems that having Wang Yi in your party gives you a random chance of ending the level earlier than usual.

So yeah. If the early level end was understood better, it would probably mean even faster times.
