After seeing a lot of my deaths in Warzone being due to the enemy hitting every shot due to aim assist holding onto the dead center of me for them, I decided to try using a controller myself.

I made a comparison of me using a controller, both with and without aim assist enabled so you can see how it turns terrible aim into professional aim. I left all settings the same but just changed the aim assist setting to on or off.

I am really bad with a controller and struggle with everything, from movement to dropping ammo but somehow I can aim EXTREMELY well, I wonder why? My aim is better with a controller when aim assist is enabled than it is with a mouse, which I have spent thousands of hours learning and trying to improve with. Even TheGamingDefinition, who has incredible aim with a mouse, thinks that aim assist is too powerful, if even someone that good with a mouse thinks it is an issue, I think that says something.

It isn't fair for mouse players to have practiced and put a lot of hours into learning how to aim well with a mouse, only to be beaten by someone who's never used a controller before because they instantly can aim better than them, simply because of aim assist. I'm an above average mouse player and have this problem so what is it like for newer or lower skilled mouse players having to play against this when they don't have decent aim?

Another thing controllers have a HUGE advantage with is when you're stunned, the aim assist still works and will partially override the max turning speed, so if they run or jump across your screen, as long as you move the analogue in the correct direction it will track them for you, you just can't do that with a mouse, the sway alone makes this almost impossible, yet I can do it almost every time with a controller. The latest meta of the Cold War AUG and FFAR make this problem even worse because the aim assist is VERY strong on those two guns, requiring almost no input from the player, sometimes even zero input required and it will follow the enemy.

PC players may have a higher FOV and framerate but those two things will likely be added to the new consoles soon, so that's not going to even be an argument to have OP aim assist anymore, not that it ever really was because FOV doesn't help you hit shots, I would happily drop my 90 FOV down to 80 to match consoles if it meant the game aimed for me like it does with a controller.

There's a reason why a lot of the "pro players" use controller in Warzone, even when playing on PC, that's because it is better in almost every situation for aiming, except for extreme long range sniping. Even pistol fights are unbalanced, try and win a pistol fight vs a controller player at the start of a match while using a mouse and you will lose 9 out of 10 times because of the strong aim assist not really allowing them to miss, where a mouse player will miss because we can't just hit every shot like controller players seem to think.

There are two solutions, nerf aim assist or allow input based matchmaking so we don't have to play against players using the other control method. I wouldn't want to see aim assist completely removed or nerfed into the ground, because then it would be unfair on controller players but it is too strong as it is right now, something needs to change.
