We Could Get A Turning Red Sequel From Disney Pixar!
154I know some of you might think it’s a bit too early to be thinking about a sequel to Pixar Turning Red, but both the director and producer spoke exclusively with Comicbook about their openness for more Turning Red films!
"We are open, but we haven't talked about it. But yeah, it's an invitation at the end for more stories."
"Hopefully, at the end of a movie, you've fallen so in love with the characters that you have a hard time letting them go. I mean, as the filmmakers, not even as the audience, I feel that way. I love these characters. I never got tired of them. I was always like, 'I'd go hang out with those characters again.' I want to see what they're up to. So, yeah. Who knows?"
Fortunately, if you’ve seen the film, you know the movie leaves room for a possible sequel to happen. But ultimately, it’s up to Disney and Pixar to make it happen, if there’s an overwhelming amount of interest in the first film. It’s kinda hard to quantify streaming numbers vs. those at the box office, and Disney opting out of originally releasing the film in theaters and instead making it free to Disney Plus subscribers doesn’t speak to their confidence towards the film.
And if you look at other direct-to-Disney Plus #Pixar movies like Soul and Luca, there wasn’t a surge of interest in those projects to generate sequel talks within the house of mouse. But hopefully audience reaction will be on par with the positive critical reactions we’ve seen thus far for the film to justify revisiting the project for another round in #TurningRed 2. Only time will tell, so get them views up on #DisneyPlus, yall!
