We Need to Talk about Misogyny on YouTube (and the Dehumanisation of 'bad' YouTubers)
Something that has been on my mind for a while. Please stick with it as I outline my experience with criticism and hate on YouTube as a way to understand how this space can become toxic. With this framing I look at Jacksfilms and Sssniperwolf, and the Vanguard and Ana Kasparian and discuss how much more subtle societal misogyny plays into overly focusing on female YouTubers who have done 'bad' things.
