We Went Bioluminescent Kayaking! It Was Like Real Life Pandora!! | Wild Florida Adventures
7,601In today's video we head over to Mims, Florida to set out on the Indian River to do some Bioluminescent Kayaking! Thank you to BK Adventures for providing us with this experience to share with you! We cast off from a boat launch located in naturally protected land owned by Kennedy Space Center! Because it is protected land the wildlife is abundant there. The main form of wildlife we were there to see was the dinoflagellates. They are a type of plankton that uses a chemical reaction call bioluminescent as a defense mechanism to scare off predators. We went out in our clear kayaks on the night of a new moon which is when the night is the darkest so we could see the bioluminescent reaction the best! All in all it was a fantastic night and a truly magical experience!
