New World takes a unique approach to role design compared to traditional MMORPGs: Instead of choosing a class, you can mix any of the two weapons available in the game and anyone can wear light, medium and heavy armor. This allows for a lot of unique combinations and playstyles without having to compromise on performance. Often, it's also easy to switch roles without necessarily having to change your attribute skill points. While this allows for a lot of flexibility, it also comes with a downside: Roles in New World aren't as clearly defined. However, if you have an MMO or RPG background and want to play more traditional classes like Tank, Healer, Mage Hunter, Bruiser, Warlock or Assassin, you still have options. All of the archetypical roles are represented in New World through different weapon and armor choices, which we'll be looking at in this video. So you can still have a classic MMO role or maybe experiment outside of the norm a little.
