Weekend at DJ's with Automotive Karnage & Down The Shed With Byron
38Aussie Garage caught up with DJ from @AutomotiveKarnage to celebrate him reaching 10,000 Subscribers for his channel and Byron from @downtheshedwithbyron to celebrate him reaching 5,000 subscribers as well. The whole idea of the weekend was bush mechanics, bush racing and celebrating the occasion together and boy was it fun.
We started by repairing the Toyota Cressida so we could race it around the track that DJ had created on the farm. So we had to replace the radiator, because the previous owner hit a tree and it won. We did not have a Toyota radiator, so we had to do with a commodore one, that did not fit at all. However, we made it work with other repairs along the way.
DJ also had a Mazda 929 Sedan that we had to do some minor repairs for racing. Bare in mind, this Mazda 929 was worth $80,000 new in 1983 and now is glorified bush basher. Have we did all the repairs to both vehicles, it was time to race them around the Track. The Cressida definitely lasted longer than I predicted, but the aim for the weekend was to kill the motor before the weekend finished, which we did in style. This Cressida looked like a old train pulling into the station, we stream going everywhere.
After we though we had killed the Cressida, Darren from Dazza's Adventures & Tips ( @darrenmoore2 ) brought he rockets that we released a couple of times and these things go super high up and awesome to see take off. We finished day 1 with a BBQ, Drinks and Bonfire out in the open with loads of laugher, making fun out of each other and great company.
Start of day 2 - we check the Cressida and it still started, so we had to go again, but his car had no power and was like travelling behind a sewing machine. It sounded so bad, however, it finally died on its second lap of the track.
We have more racing on the track in the Mazda 929 and the Demo Derby cars after a big breakfast. We finished the day chatting with DJ about his Channel and Subscribers, then we did the same for Byron as well. Then it was time to head home. @AussieGarage is definitely buying a car for racing around the track before we come out next time. So what should we buy?
