What A Software Developer's Job Is Like In 2023?
What does it mean to be a Software Developer? What is our job? This may sound like a question with an obvious answer "we write code" but that isn't what we are employed for. Too many teams an developers are treated as just "coders" and produce worse outcomes as a result. Our job is something entirely different to this, code is one of our tools, not our job. When we start thinking more in terms of what we are meant to achieve, rather than how we achieve it, we get to better results.
In this episode, Dave Farley, author of best sellers "Continuous Delivery" and "Modern Software Engineering" explores the role of developer and how we can exert more control, take more professional responsibility for our work, even if your employers don't seem to want you to.
