What do Xenomorphs Eat? Alien Digestion Explained
Here in this video we will dive deep into this topic and clear it up for everyone on What the Xenomorphs consume, what their diet and sustenance is on all stages of their life cycle.
The Xenomorph XX121 is a deadly, hive-based endo-parasitoid alien that are biomechanical and need a host to reproduce, with their appearance varying based on the host as well as differing in their various life cycle stages. Human-hosted Xenomorph drones are typically 7-9 feet tall, weighing 400-600 pounds, and possesses a long tail with a large, bulbous yet curved head.
So, firstly, The Xenomorph is born in egg form, laid in place by the hive's Queen. The egg is thick and gelatinous, usually with several membranes attached to the outer layers. It is autonomous and can survive for long periods of time, it can take nutrients from the ground to support the creature inside which is called the facehugger.
Now, when we come to the Facehuggers
we do not see it feed on anything, which means it moves and acts on stored energy or nurtrients absorbed inside the ovomorph.
Now, the third stage is the Embryo which is laid into the digestive canal of the host and so, it would derive nutrition by attaching itself to a vein and gestating in the chest cavity, in a very short amount of time, it takes in everyting in and converting it into sustenance for its own cells to divide and grow
Xenomorph infants are called chestbursters and they come out by pushing and chewing through the host's chest, causing severe pain, blood loss, shock and ultimately death
The chestbursters were seen in the right circumstances to begin feeding right off the bat. It is also seen to immediately search out a food source, which is any living thing that it can find
As for the Adults, while rarely seen, they have been confirmed to consume humans and other organic matter. Reports from the colony on Jericho 3 states that the adult drones eat the body of human victims throroughly and leave almost no remains.
One thing we have to look at closely here in the alien’s eating habits is its body fluid, often called "acid blood," which is highly corrosive and can dissolve almost anything except the creature itself. It is stated to play a role in the Xenomorph's metabolism, acting like a potent stomach acid to digest food.
Now, the same can be said for the Queen o their hive, but since that monarch is stuck in one place laying eggs, the Drones are given the duty to acquire food in order to feed the queen, very much like the social insects of our world like ants or bees, with the drones foraging for food while the queen is solely focused on producing eggs for the survival of its species
