I really dislike this character.

Monk is a character that dies immediately upon touching any gold. One piece and you're gone. This in theory makes the game more strategic about where you kill enemies and how you dig around the map, but in reality results in you just jumping into gold because of some muscle memory. The only upsides are that you start with a stronger shovel and get 1 free item per shop. The free item in shops but not having any gold seems like a fair deal, but if I was playing as any other character I would have enough gold to buy it all. If I'm going to do good with this character I need to unlearn hours of practice.
