The eyes are the windows to the soul. What does this mean though? Can one truly see the spirit of another by looking into these eyes? Well… not in literal terms. To a point, the eyes don’t even matter. I’ve known some people who were blinded in their lives, and their souls shined through brilliantly. So if the eyes don’t matter, and the soul can’t literally be seen, what does this mean? It means people wear their hearts on their sleeves in most occasions, and by sleeves, I mean faces. The soul one sees is the heart. Who they are. What they feel. The Uchiha are a Clan who wear their heart on their sleeves. Their eyes continue to be the windows to their souls. Everything about the sharingan represents this. The growth of the tomoe through determination. The complete change of Mangekyo as soon as hate is introduced to their fragile hearts. The slow decay of vision the more one uses the powers derived from hate, symbolizing the loss of their soul, or humanity as it were. The Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan being the soul that is saved from loss by the kind act of one brother to another. The Rinnegan being the eye that awakens and presents a choice. Choose to rise above your hatred… or choose to cling to what you lost and fall deeper, dragging everyone in with you. The sharingan is a beautiful analogy for humanity as a whole, and that’s just one of many reasons why it’s my favorite dojutsu. Naruto, in our past episodes (Of which there are two others, check them out first if you haven’t seen them), has been shown in a different light. Here, he has been bullied and kicked into submission, left wondering why he needs to suffer so much. Two small, but bright rays of light echoed into his life from the outside which brought him happiness. But what happens when one of those lights go out? What is his reaction going to be? You’ve been waiting for it, and I’ve been itching to explain, so let’s get into it. But first…
