What is going on with this JWST image of WR 140?
This recently released image of WR 140 is my favorite JWST image released to date. I really wanted to understand it better, and after diving in to it I decided to share my excitement with all of you!
WR-140 is a Wolf-Rayet binary star that every 8 years or so produces a large cloud of expanding dust, which leads to the rings that are seen in this image. JWST has allowed us to see these FAR better than any previous attempt to image this amazing object!
Images and video used from JWST and the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope.
