69,464The youtube algorithm has once again emerged from its slumber and you know this is the case because every creator on the platform is currently decrying that the end of the world is neigh as their views have gone down! It seems to be that restricted mode/ view verification / shadow bans / AI content / Youtube is to blame! So of course The Spiffing Brit decided to dive deep into the story and see what is going on and if there are any exploits that can be uncovered along the way.
The youtube algorithm is a complicated thing and gets represented in many interesting ways. Whilst we can see it as a machine that provides views it is honestly much simpler. Over years various different mechanics and systems could be exploited to artificially manipulate the algorithm by showing a viewers interest in a creator or topic. Now days it has mostly been streamlined into a vehicle for watchtime and satisfaction. So yes whilst a creator like me could spend 60 minutes working out the optimal SEO for a video it just is not as overpowered as it used to be. I hope that this video provides you with a greater understanding of the algorithm and viewers if your just a viewer of youtube videos or perhaps starting out as a creator in 2025.
