How to get Horror Engine?
- Horror Engine is free so is really easy to get, just complete the following steps:
1. Knowing that Horror Engine is an asset from the Unreal Engine Marketplace the first that we need to do is go to https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/ create an account with Epic Games if you already don’t have it, then download and install Epic Games launcher.
2. Once you have Epic’s Games launcher installed open it and in the left column you will see that it is the logo of Epic Games and a list below.
3. Click Unreal Engine.
4. When it open, in the upper part next to Epic’s Games logo (to the right) there is a list that shows Unreal Engine, Learn, Marketplace and Library.
5. First of all, click Library then click engine versions and install the version of the engine that you want to use (I don’t recommend using the latest version of the engine if you are planning to create a complete game because it is still in development and can have bugs).
6. Once the engine is installed and verified, go to Marketplace (in the upper row), type Horror Engine in the Search Var, click Horror Engine from the var and then select it from the list (it should be the first one).
7. Click the yellow button that says Free to added to your Library (in my case it says Create Project because I have it already on my Library).
8. Now let’s go to Library (in the upper row of the launcher) and click Create Project using Horror Engine. Name the project (I’ll name it HE4DummiesIGXL), select the version of the engine that you want to use, the folder where you want to save your project and Create.
9. That’s all, your Horror Engine project is created and in the next part we will go deeper into it.
