What Remains of Edith Finch ist eine Sammlung mysteriöser Erzählungen über eine Familie im Bundesstaat Washington.

Du spielst Edith und erkundest das gigantische Haus der Finches auf Suche nach Hinweisen, die dir die Vergangenheit deiner Familie offenbaren und die Frage beantworten, warum du die einzige noch lebende Finch bist. Mit jeder Story, die du enthüllst, erlebst du das Leben eines weiteren Familienmitgliedes am Tage seines Todes und damit Geschichten aus ferner Vergangenheit bis in die Gegenwart.

Gameplay und Handlung der Geschichten sind so unterschiedlich wie die Finches selbst. Was sie jedoch alle gemeinsam haben, ist die Ich-Perspektive und die Art und Weise, wie sie enden … mit dem Tod des jeweiligen Familienmitglieds.

Letztlich ist es ein Spiel, das uns die Demut und das Erstaunen über die unermessliche und unbegreifliche Welt um uns herum erfahren lässt.
