What The Hell Happened To Tony Hawk's Video Game Series?
The 90's and the early-to-mid 2000's were marked by all sorts of edgy coolness. Scooters, roller skates, and skateboarding were en vogue. No one can quite encapsulate the coolness of skateboards and the spirit of the era quite like the skateboarding icon Tony Hawk. So much so, that he had his own game series made branded with his own name, and much as they were marvels of uncomparable social capital in the real world, the games, for a time, were much the same.
But this is no longer that time - people don't use roller skates as often as they used to, yo-yo tricks probably aren't as cool as they used to be, scooters aren't as popular among kids, and Tony Hawk games are not the force they used to be. Nevertheless, let's take a look back at the history of the franchise.
