PS4 User Interface Refresh -

Let's talk about the new and improved PS4 User Interface.

New System Backgrounds
A revised "What's New tab"
Updated Popup Notifications
Redesigned System Icons

Looks the same, but with a fresh coat of paint.

What's New -

Has been redesigned and now includes more information about what your friends have been doing on PS4.

Quick Menu -

Currently when you press and hold the PS button on your dual shock 4 controller, it brings up the quick menu.

Now -

They have made it faster
The menu only covers a portion of the screen, so you don't have to leave your gameplay. Similar to how Xbox did it with their Snap feature.
They have also added some new items to the Quick Menu.

Online status of friends
Access to your party
Favorite groups
Communities
and much more!

You can also customize the quick menu by adding or removing items as you see fit.

Share Menu -

The share menu has been given an update.

Currently when you press the PS Share button on your dual shock 4 controller, it brings up the share menu.

Now -

The menu has been made smaller and is set to one side. So it only covers a small portion of your screen.

You can also upload videos up to 140 seconds from 10 seconds on to Twitter.

Folders and Library Organization -

You can now create folders on your PS4. So you can create folders for different genre's of games, your favorite games etc. Pretty cool.

There's also a new tab called "purchased" which will show you the content you own.

Trophy Improvements -

There is now a trophy offline mode. You can now view your trophy collection without having to connect to the Internet.

Hidden Trophies can now be viewed. So if you want to know what the hidden trophy is, you have to select it to view the name and description.

Playstation are also changing the icons for how rare a trophy is.

So instead of four boxes, the icon will now look like a pyramid with the ultra-rare trophies at the top.

Content Info Screen -

This has been redesigned so you can view a games overview, trending media, friends and communities.

User Profile -

Playstation have updated the look of the user profile page. This will make it easier to view player information etc.

You can now see your trophy progress against another user.

You can also add a background image to your own profile.

Communities -

Each community has been increased to 100,000 and you now have the ability to reply to community wall comments.

You can also share your best screenshots directly to a community wall.

Data Transfer To A New PS4 -

You can now transfer data from one PS4 to another by using the Ethernet port. This is focused for users upgrading to the PS4 Pro.

HDR -

HDR has been added to all PS4 consoles. So the current PS4, the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro.

Two Step Verification -

Two Step Verification has been added to the Playstation 4.0 update.
