Some thing i forgot to mention. Despair can be things like "extremism" to the point where you just go insane and have nothing to lose, that can also be main cause of suicide (example is suicide bombers) or just political extreme political arguments in general. But despair or acting on despair takes overall different shapes, like a loss of cultural cooperation or belonging. In either case, thats probably the main clue. Giving into despair means most likely that one becomes suicidal which is bad.
