When Opening Google Chrome Strange Command Window (CMD) Pop Up & Disappear | Solved
Backstory:
I Went Into A Site To Watch A Stream Video, But Instead Of The Video, Within The Media Player, It Shows Something Is Downloading. No Permission Needed Too... As Always, I CLosed The Browser Right Away. Strangely, Even If I Closed The Browser, It Seem Like Whatever That Was Downloading, Finished. That's When My Concern Begin. When I Closed Google Chrome, A Strange Command Prompt Pop Up & Disappear. It Also Happen When I Open Google Chrome, And When I Restart The Computer. If This Seem Like The Same Issue That Youre Getting. Here What I Did In Case The Video Is Confusing:
Instruction:
-Clear Browser History
-Delete Any Unwanted Extension
-Go To The Browser Setting And Click On Reset
-Open Task Manager To See What Is Running Or Taking Up Your Computer Resource
(If You Suspect Something Is Not Right, You Can Right Click To Search Online To Check What Is It, And If You Decided To Delete It, First Right Click And Find File Location) End Task First Then Delete The Actual File. Be Sure Not To Delete Something Wrong.
- Go To StartUp Tab On Your Task Manager To Make Sure Nothing You Dont Know Is Running On Startup
-Go To Search, Type Task Scheduler, And Make Sure Nothing Is Being Schedule That You Are Not Sure What It Is
-Go To Program Manager (The Place Where You Uninstall A Program. When I Went There, I Noticed A New Program That Is Recently Installed Without My Knowledge, Its Called OneDrive. I Uninstall OneDrive Right Away Just In Case)
-Go To Control Panel, System And Security, Action Center, Then System Recovery, Select A Point (This Will Undo Any Changes, This Wont Touch Your Media Or Document) Make Sure You Dont Select To Format Your Computer, This Will Restore To factory Setting! You Only Want To Roll Back A Week Or So, But Not Formating The Whole Comp
After That, If You Still See The Command Prompt At Start Up Or When Opening Google Chrome. Time To Reinstall Google Chrome.
I Know, I Should Have Tell You To Reinstall Google Chrome From The Start, But Just In Case It Isnt Google Chrome That Is Causing The Command Prompt.
K Now Go To Program Manager And Uninstall Google.
(Note: I Suspect It Could Also Be Chromium, But Chromium Did Not Show Up On The Program Manager) I Discovered Chromium While I Was Deleting Google In Regedit.
Go To Window, Run, Type In Regedit, click run or press enter
Click Yes To Allow
Go To HKEY CURRENT USER
Then Go To Software folder
When I Browse Through, I Noticed Chromium Folder, No Idea How DId It Got Into There. So I Deleted That For Just In Case.
Then I Delete The Google Folder Too.
After That, I Restart My Computer. After The Computer Is Fully Boot, I Noticed No More Command Prompt. Im Guessing It Must Be Either Google Chrome Or The Newly Installed Chromium.
Now I Attempt To Install Google Chrome By Downloading The Exe In Internet Explorer. IE Wouldnt download! So I Went Onto Another Computer, Download It And Bring The File Over To This Computer To Install.
Google Chrome Installed.
Everything Is Back To Normal. For More Piece Of Mind.
I Changed All Password To A Site I Recently Visit With The Infected Browser. Change The Setting, & Delete Extension.
All My Bookmark Is Loaded Back When I Sign In To Google.
Check Program Manager One More Time. When I Did The Restore Point, OneDrive Seem To Come Back, So I Uninstall It Again.
Check Regedit After Installing The New Chrome. I Found No Chromium Under The Software Tab.
Update Window, Update Graphic Driver, Update Google Chrome. Update Virus Program. Update Everything.
Do A Virus Scan.
Do Not Use The Same Password For All Your Site!
Anyway, Thank You And I Hope This Solved Your Problem.
