Sony wanted to release their own microconsole craze to cash in like Nintendo was doing and released the PlayStation Classic in 2018. It flopped because people wanted a better lineup of games, the exclusion of the Dualshock controller and inclusion of the original controller with no analog sticks, and poor marketing by Sony. They were highly discounted because no one wanted one down to $14.99 USD, but it became a great deal once it was hacked.
