BioWare came to prominence as one of the premier role-playing video game developers when it released 1998’s Baldur’s Gate. It continued paving the way for the role-playing genre with successful franchises like Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and the Dragon Age series.

However, since the cancellation of 2015’s Shadow Realm and the underwhelming response to Mass Effect: Andromeda, BioWare seems to be going through a slump. Trouble really started brewing when Anthem, which was one of the most anticipated games of 2019, didn’t meet its commercial expectation.
