Why coronavirus death rates are so different
How can we understand the risk of death from Covid-19 when there are so many numbers flying around? Well, there are actually three different types of fatality rate: Case Fatality Rate (CFR), Infection Fatality Rate (IFR), and Crude Mortality Rate (CMR). They are calculated in different ways and tell you different things. When we know what each means and how they work, we learn more about how new infections like the coronavirus affect us.
