This is a major reason why Dauntless fell off. It was influenced by trials players and "veterans" that took the game too seriously. They wanted a game that really shined when it didn't take itself too seriously to become something that focused heavily on balance and competitiveness. They also did this when the game had pretty bad behemoth AI and terrible hitboxes. Massive through IMO.
