Pokémon Gyms are places around a region that has a Gym Leader that you need to defeat in order to get a badge. There are eight gyms in each game except Sun, Moon, and Ultra games because they don't use the Gym System. They each have a puzzle or challenge that you have to complete before battling the gym leader and involves battling some random trainers in the gym. Once you get all eight gym badges, you can fight the Elite Four and Champion, which are the final bosses of the game. Each gym specializes in a Pokémon type, in which there are eighteen types. However, one of the types, which is the Dark Type, hasn't had a gym since it's introduction in Gen. 2 until Pokémon Sword & Shield. Those are the latest Pokémon games release on the switch, and they are the eighth generation games. In this video, I explain why I think the reason why there hasn't been a Dark Type Gym until now.
