Lieutenant Scott Sears is attempting to become the youngest person in history to walk solo to the South Pole, completely unassisted and unsupported. The 26-year-old will travel to Hercules Inlet at the southern end of Antarctica's Weddell Sea, and then will walk and ski solo over crevasse fields, glaciers and the Antarctic plateau for up to 45 days.
