About Steve Christie:
Raised in a loving & devout Roman Catholic family.
Elected Treasurer of the “Knights of the Altar” by my peers (ranked 4th among ~80 Altar Boys of my local parish).
Graduated from a Roman Catholic elementary school, high school, & college (VERY well catechized – often, poor catechesis is the assumption why Catholics convert to being non-Catholic…not true in my case).
Converted to a Protestant towards the end of my Catholic college education after hearing the gospel of justification by grace alone through faith alone: August 2004 from my mother, Darlene.
Earned a Bachelor in Arts & Science, Master in Business, and currently working as a registered nurse at Mercy St. Anne Hospital (a Catholic hospital named after the “traditional” name of the Virgin Mary’s mother! – based on the Protoevangelium of James in the late second century).
Began attending a Bible-teaching Protestant church that taught the Bible exegetically, where I was elected Chairman of the Missions Committee & served for 3 years.
Served as chaplain of a local YMCA for 3 years with the Silver Sneakers.
Author of 2 Christian books: “Not Really ‘Of’ Us: why do children of Christian parents abandon the faith?” & “Why Protestant Bibles Are Smaller: a defense of the Protestant Old Testament canon.”
Spoke at several churches in Ohio, Michigan, & Romania. Keynote speaker for the 500-year anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (October 2017) at a local Protestant church (Pastor Daniel Bellavia wrote the Foreword to my second book.)
Interviewed on Christian television (WLMB-TV 40) & Christian radio, as well as on both Catholic podcasts (“Reason & Theology with Michael Lofton” & “The Bible Catholic – William Hemsworth”) & Protestant podcasts (“Line of Fire with Dr. Michael Brown,” “Toronto Apologetics with Dr. Tony Costa,” “Berean Perspective Apologetics with Kelly Powers,” “TurretinFan,” etc.).
Debated Catholics on the OT canon (Gary Michuta & Trent Horn – “Reason & Theology” & “Pints with Aquinas”), and the Marian dogmas (Trent Horn, Michael Harrington – “Pints with Aquinas” & “The Gospel Truth,” and soon Dr. Robert Sungenis – November 8th – “Standing For Truth”).
Teaching home Bible studies for 15 years (“Toledo Underground Church” – dedicated to Richard Wurmbrand).
Currently attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio with my wife Lucia (who is from Romania, whose mother was raised Eastern Orthodox, but converted to a Protestant & raised her children Protestant), and also attend with my mother Darlene.
