Why you should play this game
5I acquired this game through the Ukraine bundle itch.io was offering. I wanted to make an actual video instead of just memes all the time. I had a recent talk with my brother about experiencing dreams so when I saw this game, I was intrigued. It was a pleasure to play this game and I would recommend you pick it up and play it for one playthrough.
The background music is from the game itself and really sets the correct tone for the type of game it is.

The game explores the first person perspective of dreams and experiences, past and present.
The game plays with your visual perspective, warping things around you.
Scenes that seem far are right next to you.
Scenes that seem small are massive.
There are moments of confusion, guilt, sorrow, anxiety.
For this reason, the game is unsettling.
Itβs not a horror game at heart but Promesa does capture the surreal feeling dreams have where you wouldnβt consider it a nightmare.
The ambient sounds are crisp and, coupled with a dark room and some headphones, make you want to turn around and check to make sure you are alone.
The little narrative you get is unclear and it is up to the player to determine the meaning of the scenes you experience.
With no monster and no jumpscares, the game exudes a feeling most surreal horror games attempt and fail to do.
Multiple playthroughs are required to see all the scenes the game has to offer.
Itβs not difficult to play more than one playthrough in a sitting as, at most, it will take you 45 minutes to complete one.
You can even increase the movement speed of your player, but, to get the full experience, I would keep it at normal speed.
People with anxiety may not enjoy this game but, for others, the game is only 6$ and can be found in most places you buy games.
Promesa is worth playing for the thought provoking experience on its own and I recommend anyone who is willing to give it a shot.
