WildTangent Speedway Walkthrough
68Here is a walkthrough of my favorite WildTangent game that I've been wanting to upload onto YouTube for a long time. This game was first released in 2000 for WildTangent Web Driver after the development in late 1999, but later re-released for WildTangent GameChannel in 2002, though also included on some of the older HP Pavilion PCs.
It's been a while since I made a walkthrough, so I felt like making another one. This is my first ever video game walkthrough. There is a lack of non-commentary gameplay footage of this game, so I decided to upload a walkthrough of it myself. I played the 2002 version of this game when I was a young kid when I probably had my HP Pavilion 710 CTO PC. It's quite sad I haven't seen any footage of this game and some other older ones on YouTube because nobody seems to play them anymore.
Right now, as for the walkthrough, I played the original 2000 version. Instead of either Camtasia or Fraps, I used Bandicam because I used Windows XP Home Edition SP1 on my HP Pavilion a618x PC and I had some technical problems with them. The FPS of the recording of the game is a bit choppy, but it doesn't matter because I did everything as it should be done. The load screens for the loading of the racing are cut for viewing pleasure because in Bandicam, the load times were extremely long.
You might also want to excuse the red FPS numbers seen on top of the screen. I rendered this with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0. The way Bandicam recorded this walkthrough was great, but I would've had to buy a PC to TV converter box to capture clips from the PC I used via my Windows 7 laptop. During the race, I accidentally hit the walls by mistake several times because apparently, Bandicam was making it a hard task. The way I jumped off the road with the Aegis Sport was okay, but I think it could have been better. As for the game, all the names of the vehicles are probably fake because they're exclusive to this game. There's three of them to choose from.
You can either do Time Trials or Match Trials modes. The music and the graphics are amazing. Too bad this game refuses to run on Windows Vista and 7, but it's possible to run it on Windows ME, 2000 and XP. That's why this game doesn't work on all of my PCs, except on my HP Pavilion a618x. I tried Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, but 3D hardware acceleration is not supported by virtual machine software. I also tried on my Windows 98 PC (which is an HP Vectra VL 6/350 Series 8 DT) but it gave me an error saying that no 3D accelerated video card is found. The PC that I recorded this game on had this game working very well.
Note that there's only one track in the downloaded version of this game called "WT Raceway," but if you play the online version (which is what you can't do anymore), you can race on some more tracks. I grew up on the downloaded version so that's why I went for it. You can also perform a stunt when you make a jump by immediately pressing down the down key and any direction key and it will cause you to roll over, and you can get respawned back to the course. I wish I could have shown it here in this video. Here are the level-by-level comments for the modes and the vehicles:
Match Trials: This is my favorite mode. In this one, you have to race against the AI that has a different color that cannot be changed from the default one. You're always able to beat it because it's completely possible. I started with this mode because this one involves racing against an AI.
Time Trials: In this mode, you can drive around the course without an AI. I showed some different cams here because that way, I won't get behind the AI in Match Trials mode.
Aegis Sport: I love this car. It's very amazing and it's my favorite one of all time. Too bad the other ones are a bit faster than this one. When I was a kid, I used to have some toy cars resembling this one. Like I said, I made some mistakes before I made the jumps in all two modes when I was driving this one. The decals are awesome because they look like the racing ones. The design of the wheels are the same as the game's icon for the .exe file. I think the rest of the vehicle speaks for itself.
Adamant LX: This car feels like a Ferrari version of an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage. For some reason, I forgot to show the other views of this vehicle, except that I showed the cockpit and the far cam during Match Trials mode.
Deserter: This one is a bit faster than the previous two vehicles. The roof has a checkered design to make it look like a race car. It is kind of a weird car. It feels like something kind of rusty and outdated. I don't have anything else to say besides that.
