WIP: Lappland Coat Of Arms
0Working on some more heraldic shields while waiting for the dice model pack to pass autorepair.
The next shield pack will be the 25 provinces of Sweden.
Pictured here is Lappland, our northernmost and largest province. The coat of arms of Lappland is a red-skinned Wild Man with a golden club and birchleaf crown. The Wild Man was a well-known mythological creature of the late medieval and rennaissance eras, and featured in many coats of arms across Europe. One can assume the character was supposed to represent the sparsely populated subarctic wilderness of Lappland.
The first appearance of the Lappland coat of arms was on a coin from during the reign of Charles IX, in 1607.
