This video contains moments from my Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings live stream, from the end of chapter 2 breaking into chapter 3. Given that we chose to ally with Roche and the Blue Stripes in chapter 1, events follow the fate of the Blue Stripes and drama with Henselt, Dethmold and the Kedweani forces. Later on I would realize siding with Iorveth would give us time in Aedirn with the opposition. That is pretty cool, although there is no NG+ and I would have liked to have played through again just enjoying my build and cruising through the story.
As the title implies, things come to a head with King Henselt. And there are two things I did not do that were quickly mentioned to me through dialogue: a) Save Iorveth and b) meet up with Ves before confronting Henselt to see if she was lying. This game is so unique in that it does not hand hold you in alerting you to branching plot points, you have to pay attention to NPCs and the response Geralt gives, even take your own notes because the quest log will not always remind you.
But I still think this narrative design ultimately wins because it requires you to participate. Standard practice for RPGs do not utilize this kind of subtlety at the expense of turning your brain off. It feels really unique to be involved this way even if it may have been an oversight.
