Wo Long | 3.1: "In Search of the Immortal Wizard" Highlights
1Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a soulslike game set in the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese History. The combat and spirit bar system — save for a few niggles with deflection timings — is excellent fun. While the game starts off with a few too many brown areas with generic humanoid enemies, it does ramp up a little as you progress, but doesn't really hit the more extravagant supernatural heights of Nioh, and feels like a 'We have Nioh at home' situation in the opening hours.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty released two demos, the first of which I played for the channel and the second of which promised to have some stuff that carried over — which I read to mean some titles or cosmetics. So, while I played the second demo, I didn't actually record my experience, which is why this series starts where it does. Sorry about that, but it would be disingenuous to go back and replay the first two missions now as if they were fresh.

►I've edited the videos in this series down from their full mission length to try and preserve some element of entertainment and momentum. Sorry for any awkward cuts: I'm not good at this.
►As a writer, the storytelling in Wo Long falls into the same trap that so many Three Kingdoms era games do. It is peppered with historical figures that I know nothing about, that do nothing to make me care about them, all for the sake of 'hey guys, look who is in our story'. It's bad storytelling and bad writing — and I feel sorry for the voice actors who had to try and make it sound palatable.
