61Once upon a time, a group of ambitious game designers came together with an idea: what if we remake an old stealth game into a fast-paced action game set in a first person perspective? It was daring, bold, and opened the doors to an entirely new genre of pc gaming experience: the first person shooter. id Software's Wolfenstein 3D, released on May 5th 1992, is the grandfather of the modern FPS genre and the first game in a long line of first person shooters that I'll be playing and reviewing for the History of FPS project. Without further ado kids, go grab some popcorn and sit by the fire while I spin a story about a game that literally changed everything.
