Lol so while I had the thought that Rika's mom might be a hostess, I had "Isn't she a bit old to be one?" in the back of my head.

Perhaps seeing Mannen makes her see her mom in a different light, or just overall a bit differently. We saw that when her mom asked Rika if she was going to abandon her too; Rika said eventually, but not now. She said that in her own lil way plus the fact that she ended up eating the cake, anyway.

There was also the beginning when her mom said that Rika doesn't understand, but Rika gets mad and cuts her off instead. She's still young and is most likely filled with teen angst, so it's understandable that she would act this way with her mom and even resent her.

With Rika's mom saying that Rika will abandon her too, we can see that she's afraid that her daughter will leave her. So perhaps it's one reason she doesn't straight up tell Rika who her dad is because she's scared that Rika might leave her for her dad.
