So work progresses on the chess king piece based on Heroes of Might & Magic 3. Whipped together a skeleton horse. The horse cranium is still a placeholder, since it isn't my own design. So I won't be using it for copyright reasons. Probably shouldn't even be using it for WIP renders, but hey ho...

Made a crown based on artwork from Heroes 3, which still needs bulking up in order to be printable but is essentially done. The design of the rider is still unclear, pending input from the customer who commissioned the model. I personally kinda like the version with the spellbook, since it evokes a fundamental aspect of gameplay (frying your enemies with the armageddon spell...). It would also contrast the king piece for the Castle side nicely, since their king piece is a warrior. So you'd get wizard vs warrior.

Horse may end up with more armor. We'll see.

Various minor alterations will surely be made as well. The saddle and rider might be moved slightly back, for example.

There's a slight error in a couple of the renders shown here - I forgot to remove one of the alternate front leg poses for the horse prior to exporting the model, and then I didn't notice it until I'd already started a turntable rendering in Zbrush. So that's why the horse has five legs in some instances.

And finally, I'll have to figure out a way to make the model fit onto the chess piece. I can always solve it by going with the rearing pose. We'll see.
