This game, in my opinion, is the best graphics on the PS1 when we talk about real-time textured graphics. It even makes sense, considering that this game was released in mid-2001. This was one of the last games released for the PS1, if I'm not mistaken. At this time, I believe that the developers already knew the PS1 hardware well, in addition to there being more advanced algorithm programming techniques that, in the early days of the console's life, allowed such wonderful graphics. I remember, at the time I played (in the year of release), that I noticed some graphic techniques used in the game that I had never seen before, for example, the viewing distance in this game is far ahead, allowing us to see more details rendered in the front of us. We know that PS1 games suffer a lot from this problem (Driver 1 and 2 is an example of the field of vision in front being built very close, making it look like there is a canyon just a few meters away in front of us), but in this game that doesn't happen! Of course, you can see the graphics being built ahead, but it's much further and this brought a new generation feeling even within the PS1 era!
Another graphic technique that I noticed in this game is that there is almost no polygon breakage and the textures are very smooth, different from the squared textures style that we saw in previous games.
Regarding the gameplay, what can I say is that this game gives me a great feeling of speed that games like Driver didn't have. When I press the brake button I feel that the car is at high speed, as it takes a while to stop, just like a real situation. Oh, this part where we can shoot is something that draws a lot of attention and that is the great triumph of this game's gameplay and what sets it apart from the others! Very cool!
Anyway, I only have praise to give this game and I consider it one of the best games on the PS1 and its generation.
