I am playing Worms Forts: Under Siege, which was made by Team 17 and SEGA in 2004. After about 20 years I once again had an opportunity to play it. Since my copy's CD disks were not compatible with Windows 11, I had to buy it on GOG.

When I played that game first time, I was excited due to how much it was differing from the other games from this franchise back then,... of course before Worms 4: Mayhem came out next year.
It was the first Worms game, where you could choose a hat for your team and travel through a timeline.
To be able to build the upgraded building, you have to collect the Victory Stars while spreading your fortress. You can even do the double flips while jumping so, that you could go higher even without using a jetpack.

Unfortunately it has plenty flaws.
The only objects you can damage on a stage are the buildings, because of which every battle takes a lot of time.
The explosions don't push enemies as much as they do in most of the games from this franchise. No matter how much you aim on an enemy worm, he will always fly vertically.
Even the projectiles from the certain higher level weapons such as siege onager, can be pushed away by a wind.
It needs some patience to control the camera, because for example it keeps moving a little even when you have already stopped doing that. It feel like rotating a heavy object on a wheel.

Speaking of the hats, let's get started.
The hats from the Egyptian arc make sense, because all of these are from the ancient Egypt. However later it is getting less consistent. The hats from the Greek arc are not only from the ancient Greece, but also there are two ones from the Roman Empire.
The most non-consistent one was the Oriental arc, because normally when we talk about Orientalism, it is often referred to Middle East and India, but here it looks more like the Eastern Asian arc. Two helmets are Japanese, once is Chinese and the another one is Mongolian.
The last arc, that is Medieval, may make more sense than the previous two ones, because it actually refers to the medieval Europe and mostly the western part of a continent.

To sum up, if you would like to feel some nostalgia while playing the Worms series besides Armageddon, I may recommend at least one of these from the 3D era. However I still think Worms 4: Mayhem / Worms Ultimate Mayhem were the best from the one.
